Skeletal Muscle Physiology Recruitment Seminar

Dr. Weiwei Fan is a Senior Research Associate at the Salk Institute for Biological Studies. His research seminar will be focused on how endurance exercise exerts numerous health benefits, which is generally believed to rely on positive adaptations in skeletal muscle. Dr. Fan studies mitochondrial energy metabolism and its transcriptional regulation in skeletal muscle during endurance exercise. His research has identified two transcriptional regulatory networks that independently modulate exercise-induced mitochondrial biogenesis and energy substrate shift.
